Fredric Elton Cornell

SFC Retired Fredric (Fred) Elton Cornell, 75, of Apison, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2021, at a Chattanooga hospital.

Fred was born in Fresno, California, on July 23, 1945, to the late Samuel and Kathryn Betlach Cornell. He was drafted into the United States Army in October of 1966 and retired in October of 1992 after 26 years of faithful and devoted service to our country.

He was preceded in death by his wife Edith Jenice Cornell and is survived by their daughter Cherise Elizabeth Cornell of Chattanooga, Tennessee.

He is also survived by his sons, Todd Edward Cornell and his wife Tabatha Cornell of Panama City Beach, Florida, and Robert Lewis Cornell and his wife, Jennifer Cornell of Port Charlotte, Florida.

Fred is also survived by his daughters, Marci Lynn Cornell of Sacramento, California, and Karyn Alyse Cornell of Chico, California.  

Fred was a dedicated grandfather and is survived by nine grandchildren, Robert, Charlene, Joe, Dylan, Aiden, Maddison, Christian, Owen, and Luca and two great grandchildren, Scarlett and Nylas.

He was a friend to all and will be fondly remembered for his sense of humor and love of music.

A Celebration of Life service with Military Honors will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, July 2, 2021 at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
