Imogene Green Stone, 90, of Benton, departed this life peacefully, surrounded by her beloved family, on September 30, 2024, at the family residence.
Mrs. Imogene was one of six children of the late John Henry and Gussie Headrick Green of Old Fort. Throughout life, she was a faithful and dedicated mother to her five children, David, Bob, Gary, Darlene, and Benny. Always looking out for others, she had a contagious smile that would brighten the room as soon as she entered despite contracting Polio as a child. Despite the difficult disease, she always wore a smile on her face and offered words of encouragement to her entire family and friends regardless of the situation.
She was a member of Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church and was a compassionate and loving caregiver of several critically ill patients in hospitals and homes near the Benton area.
In addition to her parents, John H. and Gussie Green, she was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Ben F. Stone; siblings, Alma Ruth, Grace Marie Green, Mildred Hicks, and Kenneth Green; son-in-law, Tommy Rymer; daughter-in-law, Barbara Stone; sister-in-law, Opal Green; brother-in-law, Hershel Hicks.
Left to cherish the many memories include her beloved children, David (Nadine) Stone, Bob Stone, Gary Stone, Darlene Rymer, and Benny Stone; grandchildren, Benjamin “Ben” (Carrie) Stone, Josh (Melissa) Stone, Adam (Jessica) Stone, Bobbie Stone Qualls, Brent (Brooke) Stone, Trey (Kaylee) Stone, Spencer Stone, Karen Lowry, Matthew Rymer, and Sara Rymer; 16 great-grandchildren; special niece, Sandy (Bill) Hughes; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of extended family members.
A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 3, 2024, in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home of Benton, with Pastor Joe Hatcher and Pastor Adam Jones officiating. A graveside committal service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 4, 2024, at Benton Memorial Gardens, with Ben Stone, Josh Stone, Adam Stone, Brent Stone, Spencer Stone, Blake Stone and Chase Bishop serving as pallbearers.
Her family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, prior to the service at the funeral home.
The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation and gratitude to Adoration Hospice, Beth McGee, and Amy Wilcox for their genuine love and care.
