James E. Campbell, 81, of Ocoee passed away peacefully at his home on September 6, 2020.
He was born in Murray County, Ga and lived in Ocoee for the past 63 years. James graduated from Polk County High School, excelling in football, baseball and basketball. He retired from TDOT after 35 years of service. He loved his family and spending time with his children and grandchildren, who lovingly, called him “Jimbo”.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Jessie Pellom Campbell; one brother, Kenneth Campbell.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 63 years, Martha “Sue“ Howard Campbell; children, Karen Campbell Sherlin and Kimsey (Teresa) Campbell; four grandchildren, Amy (Casey) Starnes, Abby (Josh) Birdwell, Ali (Blake) Mosley and Kevin Campbell; seven great-grandchildren, Blake Carter, Dylan Birdwell, Zach Birdwell, Sadie Starnes, Shelby Birdwell, Reagan Mosley and Peyton Campbell; siblings Donna Gullege and Johnny Campbell. Special friends that were his fishing and hunting buddies, Bill Baxter, Weyman Henry Jr., Gene and John Campbell.
A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 10, 2020 at Conasauga River Baptist Church with Pastor Jackie Martin officiating.
His family will receive friends from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, at the church prior to the service.
