Jean Lanning Eaves
Jean Lanning Eaves, 93, passed away Sunday, March 10, 2019, at Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga. She was a native and life-long resident of the Linsdale community of Polk County. She was the daughter of the late Lewis Burt Lanning and Mary Elizabeth Jenkins Fox Lanning.
She was retired from Morgan Mfg. Co. of Etowah. At the time of her death, she was the oldest member of the Patty Church of Christ where she served faithfully for many years. She was a servant at heart and found no greater joy than meeting the needs of others.
In addition to her parents, she was proceeded in death by her husband, Spencer Boyd Eaves; son, Raymond Boyd Eaves; five brothers, Emerson (Jack) Fox, Bowden Fox, Leonard Fox, Cecil Lanning and R. L. Lanning; two sisters, Hester Burris and Mary Culberson; special nephews, Gary Culberson, C. L. Lanning and Joe Lanning.
Survivors include her daughter, Gail Eaves Greenwood, and husband, Dr. Neil Greenwood; granddaughter, Leah Elizabeth Greenwood; grandson, Trevor Boyd Greenwood; sister, Mildred Parrott; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 12 in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home in Benton, TN at 8:00 p.m. Ministers Joe Guy and Dan Guy will be officiating. Burial will be Wednesday, March 13 at 11:00 a.m. in the Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery. Grandson and nephews will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
