Jerry Newman Campbell, 77, of Benton, departed this life on October 31, 2021, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on December 25, 1943, to the late Roy Newman and Mary Marie Miller Campbell. Jerry was of the Baptist faith and a lifelong member of Mountain View Baptist Church. Mr. Campbell served in the United State Army where he received a Purple Heart, National Defense Service Medal and Air Medal for his service in Vietnam. After his service, he was one of the initial founding EMT’s that became known as the Bradley County Ambulance Service. Following that, he moved to Cleveland Fire Department where he served as an engineer. Then, he became one to the first directors of the EMT service in Polk County. After his public service, he had a career in heavy machinery and carpentry before retiring. He was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman. He was loved by many friends and family because he loved to be social and could be found regularly at the Corner Market where they deemed him, “The Corner Market Mayor”.
In addition to his parents, Roy Newman, and Mary Marie Miller Campbell, he was preceded in death by his loving son, Jamie N. Campbell.
