Joe Hugh Richmond

Joe Hugh Richmond, 81, of Benton, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, departed this life on Wednesday, October 6, 2021.

Joe was born on June 16, 1940, in Harriman, Tennessee to the late James and Mary Richmond.  He was a faithful member of Patty Church of Christ and retired from Bowater Newsprint after 34 dedicated years.  Some of his fondest memories and hobbies include fishing, carpentry work, camping and spending time with family.  Throughout life he was a faithful husband, father, and grandfather.  He cherished each one of them and will be missed dearly.

In addition to his parents, James, and Mary Richmond, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Barbara Richmond, and Wanda Tapp.

Left to cherish the many memories include his loving wife of 60 years, Inez Richmond; his beloved children, Rhonda Lillard and David (Kim) Richmond; sister, Carolyn Edwards; grandchildren, Danielle (Seth) McClary, Cole (Amanda) Lillard, Haley (Steven) Jackson, Carson Lillard and Will (Megan) Richmond; great-granddaughters, Emerson McClary, Gracie Jackson, and Baby Jackson on the way; great-grandsons, Fletcher McClary, and Aiden Richmond.  Several nieces, nephews and a host of friends also survive.

A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 9, 2021, at Higgins Funeral Home with Minister Joe Guy officiating.  Interment will follow at Benton Memorial Gardens.

Friends and family will gather from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, prior to the service at the funeral home.
