Joyce Jenkins Lanning, 80, of Delano, departed this life peacefully on Easter Monday, April 18, 2022, with her family at her side.
She was born on December 18, 1941, in Etowah, Tennessee to the late Myrtle and Wesley Jenkins. Throughout life, Joyce grew up in the Etowah community and faithfully served the Old Fort community as Postmaster with the United States Postal Service. In her later years, a few of her fondest memories include attending the many ballgames while supporting her beloved grandchildren. Whether it be at the recreational, middle school, high school, collegiate, or professional level, she would travel nationwide to cheer them on. Spending time with her grandchildren was dear to her heart along with making crafts, genealogy, and catering to her two Yorkies, Lucy, and Lexie. She was known by many while being loved by all. Ms. Joyce was loved dearly by everyone who knew her and will be deeply missed.
In addition to her parents Myrtle and Wesley Jenkins, she was preceded by her beloved husband of 53 years, Clyde "C.L." Lanning and brothers Gene Jenkins, Glenn (Judy) Jenkins, sister-in-law Fannie Jenkins, sister-in-Law Sherry Jenkins.
Left to cherish the many memories include her loving children, Jeff (Tamra) Lanning and Teresa (Mark) Allen; grandchildren, Matthew Allen and fiancé Jessica Hancock, Jared Allen (Savannah Renfro), Mackenzie Lanning (Kevin Dodd), Emily Lanning, Tucker Lanning; brothers, Albert (Ruth) Jenkins, Larry Jenkins, Robert (Sherry) Jenkins, and Danny (Dianne) Jenkins; sisters, Dianne (Larry) Lanning and Kathy (Jimmy) Mincey; sisters-in-law Elaine Jenkins and Helen Allen. Several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends also survive.
