Linda Marie (Triplett) Shamblin, 68, of Athens, Tennessee and longtime resident of Cleveland, Tennessee, found peace on November 1, 2024, after several health challenges.
Linda was born in Cleveland, Tennessee to Kenneth E. and Gertrude Patricia Triplett. The untimely death of her mother when she was 15 forced her to grow up quickly. As the oldest, she stepped in as a caregiver for her family.
She graduated from Polk County High School. After unhappy stints of factory work, she ultimately found her calling in housekeeping. Her clients were like family to her. This extended family and her friends often described her as “a character.” Among her favorite wall art quotes around the house was “Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass. It’s about learning how to dance in the rain.” This was her motto.
After three failed marriages, she decided she was much happier with a dog than a man. She enjoyed gardening, cross-stitching, playing word games, assembling puzzles, watching the Atlanta Braves and the Georgia Bulldogs, harassing telemarketers, and gossiping on the porch. She never had much material wealth, but she was always generous with her time and paid forward what she could.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents and brother, John Curtis Triplett. She is survived by her son, Brian Shamblin and his partner Breanna Ondich of Athens, Georgia; brothers Tom, Bill (Linda), and Kenneth Wayne Triplett; and seven nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will gather from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. on Friday, November 8, 2024, in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home of Benton.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to her favorite charities: Disabled Veterans of America, Wounded Warrior Project, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or the World Wildlife Fund.
