Martha S. York

Martha Sue York, 83, of Old Fort, went to be with our Lord and Savior peacefully on June 24, 2024, surrounded by her beloved family.

She was born on March 14, 1941, in Madisonville, Tennessee, to the late Gus and Louie-Ethel Elizabeth Crowder Hawkins.

Throughout life, Ms. Martha enjoyed flea markets, reading, ceramics, fishing, gardening her flowers, and she loved watching western movies. Martha loved her time with her family and friends. She was of the Baptist faith, a member of Maranatha Baptist Church in Tullahoma, Tennessee. Due to her illness, she has spent part of the last three years of her life in between Old Fort and Shelbyville, Tennessee.

Your presence we will miss, your memories we will treasure, loving you always, forgetting you never.

In addition to her parents, Gus and Louie-Ethel Elizabeth Crowder Hawkins, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles York; grandchildren, Tonya Crisp and James Hicks; four brothers and six sisters; son-in-law, Marty Perryman.

Left to cherish the many memories include her loving children, Vickie (Mike) Stinnett, Judy (Johnny) Hicks, Brenda Perryman, Rick (Bes) Everhart and David (Ann) Welch; grandchildren, Andrea (Jeff) Finchum, Timmy (Valerie) Green, Ashley Pope, John Hicks, Shaun Hicks, Misty (Mike Williams) Zimmerman, Chase Perryman, Peter (Ruth) Everhart, Jonathan (Leah) Everhart, Nathan (Tiffany) Everhart, and James (Elizabeth Davis) Everhart; great-grandchildren, John Green, Nathan Baker, Bo Williams, Emma Williams, Nate Zimmeron, Hannah Perryman, Ava Perryman, Ethan Fry, Colton Pope, Olivia Sue Clanton, Maya Everhart, Judah Everhart, Noah Everhart, Isabella Everhart, Lilah Everhart, Jacob Everhart, Anna Grace Everhart, Nevaeh Brown, Nicholas Collete, Abel Everhart, and Isaac Everhart; great-great-grandchild, Hope Armstrong; great-great-great grandchildren, Ellie Grace Raveling and Maci Jane Bell. Several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends also survive.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at Smyrna Baptist Church, with Pastor Jimmy Parm and Brother Phil Renslow officiating. Interment will follow at Smyrna Baptist Church Cemetery with Timmy Green, Peter Everhart, Jonathan Everhart, Shaun Hicks, Ethan Fry and Chase Perryman serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Nathan Baker and Trapper Bynum.

Family and friends will gather from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., prior to the service at the church.
