Marvin S. “Buddy” Head, 78, of Old Fort, departed this life peacefully on July 13, 2023, at his home.
Throughout life, Buddy enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and retired from the carpet manufacturing industry. He was a faithful husband, father, grandfather, and brother and will be missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his son, Billy Long, Jr.; mother and stepfather, Martha Head Dunn and Ray Dunn; siblings, Truman Head, Johnny Head, and Claudia Marie (Morris) Dixon.
Left to cherish the many memories include his beloved wife, Elsie Verner Head; children, Buddy M. Head, Anthony L. Head, and Denette (Vic) Gibson; grandchildren, Chris (Susie) Head, Tiffany Swafford (Cody Freeman), Nicholas Gibson, River Long, Valley Long, and Dustin Suade West; great-grandchild, Felix Swafford; siblings, Buster (Carlene) Head, and Francis Dunn. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, July 17, 2023, in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home. The graveside committal service will be held at 12:00 p.m. (noon) on Tuesday, July 18, 2023, at Cedar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
Family and friends will gather from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, prior to the service at the funeral home.
