Mary Wilma Lindner Garren, 95, a resident of Delano, passed away August 4, 2019 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church and was very active with the Polk County 4-H as well as the Ramp Tramp Festival. Wilma was an avid gardener and was an amazing cook.
She was born on July 8, 1924 to the late William Chester and Josephine Burchfield Lindner in Reliance, TN.
Ms. Garren was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Mr. Homer “Goat” Garren; brothers, William Fred Lindner and Robert Leon Lindner; granddaughters, Pamela West, Baby Kimberly Garren and Baby Lecretia Patton; son-in-law, John Patton; daughter-in-law, Barbara Garren.
Survivors include her children, James “Tuck” (Chloey) Garren, Bill (Sue) Garren, Ruth Patton, Ray (Kaye) Garren and Sarah (Ted) Swafford; grandchildren, Van Garren, Rosie Blevins, Kelsey Swafford, Kile Swafford, Kelly Pickel, Joseph Gaskill and Josh Gaskill; fifteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one niece, Charlene Slawnikowski; special friend and caregiver, Ernestine Bain.
A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 6, 2019 in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home with Reverend Pete Morgan officiating. Interment will follow at the Benton Cemetery with her great-grandsons serving as pallbearers.
Her family will receive friends from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Monday, August 5, 2019 and from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday prior to the service at the funeral home.
