With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Michele Lee Lorino, 46, of Benton, TN, who died unexpectedly on Friday, August 2, 2024. She was born on March 4, 1978, in Harris NY, the eldest daughter of Theila Lorino and Michael Ruff.
Michele proudly served her country in the United States Air Force from 1998-2003 with duty stations at Sheppard Air Force Base in San Antonio TX; Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, MS and Enid Air Force Base in Enid, OK. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Aeronautics from Embry- Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona, FL. and was employed as an air-traffic controller in several locations, including Puerto Rico and Connecticut.
Loving daughter, silly sister and fierce friend, Michele was many things to many people. She brought light to everyone she met with her love, enthusiasm and endless curiosity. Above all, she was a free spirit who blessed everyone she knew with her dazzling smile and sincere compassion. From working as a volunteer EMT after her high school graduation to spending days assisting her Veteran sisters and brothers in any way possible, Michele’s life was dedicated to helping others. Her joys were infinite, and she brought a smile to all she met. She adored being in nature and frequently enjoyed camping, river rafting and kayaking with friends.
She leaves behind to treasure her memory, her beloved rescue cats Mr. Mow and Mr. Monkey; her mother Theila (Murry) Lorino of Benton, TN; her father Michael (Teri) Ruff of McComb MS; brothers Michael Lorino (Casie Kleingardner) of Chatsworth, GA, Thomas (Amber) Lorino of Lehigh Acres, FL, Justin (Barbara) Ruff of Lehigh Acres, FL; sisters Nikki (C.J.) Elledge of Cape Coral, FL, Janyne Lorino of Liberty, NY, Dana (Robert) Brethauer of North FT Myers, FL and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Joseph and Cynthya (Wallace) Murry; her paternal grandparents Irving and Hilda (Schmitz) Bogursky; her sister Megan Ruff; Uncle Robert Murry and cousins, William Many and Devin Zeininger.
Family and friends will gather from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at Higgins Funeral Home of Benton.
