McArthur Carruth, 79, of Benton, passed away peacefully, October 22, 2023, at his family home.
He was born on April 1, 1944, in Linsdale, Tennessee, to the late Fletus and Marie Coe Carruth.
Mack retired from the Benton Police Department as Chief of Police and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. A few of his fondest memories include taking rides through the mountains, camping, watching westerns and wrestling, working on lawn mowers, and was an avid outdoor enthusiast. His most prized possessions were those of his great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Fletus and Marie Coe Carruth, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Voyd Carruth and Johnny Carruth; mother-in-law, Marietta Sloop.
Left to cherish the many memories include his loving wife of 57 years, Mary Evelyn Carruth; beloved children, Pam (Richard) Adams, and Jeff Carruth; grandchildren, Amy Boyland, Tiffany Bailey, and J.D. Carruth; great-grandchildren, Makayla Boyland, Kendall Boyland, Gavin Garlin, Caiden Garlin, and Kameron Bailey; sister, Eloise (Chuck) Waters. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 26, 2023, in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home, with Pastor, Dr. Robert K. Speights officiating. Interment will follow at Old Ocoee Cemetery.
Family and friends will gather from 12:00 (noon) to 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, prior to the service at the funeral home.
