Rev. Kenneth Eugene Burger

July 20, 1952 — December 8, 2021

Rev. Kenneth E. Burger, 69, of Delano, went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, December 8, 2021, surrounded by his loving family at his residence.

He was born on July 20, 1952, in Turtletown, Tennessee to the late Harvey and Lurena Dale Burger.  Learning at an early age his calling to preach, Rev. Burger answered the call to spread the Word as a local pastor and spent many years traveling the world as an evangelist.  He loved his Lord and Savior and always wanted to proclaim the good news and always wore a shirt with “Jesus” on it.  A firm believer, he felt his mission was to witness to everyone he came into contact with.  Kenneth was a true family man.  He always loved and cherished the time spent with his family, friends, and church family.  The void left due to his passing is large but knowing that he is rejoicing in Heaven is a great comfort.  Rev.  Burger will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to have known him, especially his little buddy, David Inman.

In addition to his parents, Harvey, and Lurena Burger, he was preceded by two sons, Kenneth Jason Burger and Joshua Burger; sister, Alice Phillips; father and mother-in-law, William and Mary Cross; paternal grandparents, Emmanuel and Belvie Burger; maternal grandparents, James and Nina Dale; nephew, Brandon Burger.

Left to cherish the many memories include his beloved wife of 20 years, Betty Cross Burger; one daughter, Cynthia Burger; stepfather, Dennis Burger; cherished siblings, Junior (Judy) Burger, Bobby (Julia) Burger, Anthony Burger, Billy Burger, Ray (Jenny) Burger, Jan (Sam) Rayburn, June (Danny) Hicks, Carol (Brad) Waters, and Tammy Branham; grandchildren, Summer (Russell) Stephens, Ian Burger, Tyler (Nicole) Nivens, and D. Gracie Burger; great-grandchildren, Titus Stephens and Carter Nivens.  A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends also survive.

A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 11, 2021, at Chestuee Worship Center, 1444 Athens Rd. Calhoun, TN 37309.  Pastor Samuel Burger, Rev. Bobby Burger, Rev. Junior Burger, and Paul Cross will officiate.  Interment will follow at Old Ocoee Cemetery with Stephen Phillips, Jeremy Phillips, Joseph Phillips, Chris Inman, Chris Byers, Joe Cross, Brad Waters, Scott Hembree, and James Buck Cronan serving as pallbearers.

Family and friends will gather from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, prior to the service at the church.
