Robert "Bob" Lloyd Stiles, Sr.

Robert Lloyd “Bob” Stiles, Sr., 85, of Cleveland, went home to be with the Lord on May 24, 2023, at Parkridge Medical Center.

He was born on February 21, 1938, in Cumberland, Kentucky to the late Floyd and Lonesome Georgia Barr Stiles.

Robert was married to Anna Ruth (Short) Stiles for 48 years until she passed away at the age of 66.  He was blessed to find love again with Glena Inez Stiles and they were married in December of 2009.  

Robert was a graduate of Benham High School and served 4 years in the U.S. Air Force.  Afterward he began his 40+ year career in the insurance industry as an agent with Home Beneficial Life Insurance Co. and retired as a regional vice president with American General.

Growing up in the mountains of Harlan County, KY, he became an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing with his sons for many years and was also passionate about watching his U.K. Wildcats basketball team and SEC football.  Bob and Inez are of the Baptist faith and a member of First Baptist Church in Benton, TN.

Thanks be to God for the life of Robert Stiles, child of God, son, brother, husband, father, friend, and mentor.  A life well lived by any measure.

In addition to his parents, Floyd, and Lonesome Barr Stiles, he was preceded by his wife of 48 years, Anna Ruth Stiles; sisters, Charlotte (Paul) Gilley, June (Cleve) White, Thelma (Alvin) Creech; brothers, Charles Stiles, and Clayton Stiles.

Left to cherish the many memories include his loving wife of 13 years, Glena Inez Davidson Stiles; beloved sons, Robert L. (Alicee) Stiles, Jr., and Mark Edward (Sandra) Stiles; stepson, Michael (Roxie) Davidson; granddaughters, Lyzette (Jason) Young, Abigail Stiles, Emma Kate Brooks, and Anna Brooks; siblings, Dwight Stiles, and Regina (Jack) Blanton.  Several nieces, nephews, and many step grandchildren also survive.

A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 3, 2023, in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home, with Dr. Robert K. Speights officiating.  

Family and friends will gather from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Way, Memphis, TN  38105.
