Rosie Mae Young, 86, of Charleston, went home to be with the Lord on April 24, 2024.
She was born on October 15, 1937, in Polk County, TN, to the late Levi and Bessie Gatlin Cross.
Throughout life, Rosie enjoyed singing, playing guitar, and playing the game “Phase 10”. She was best known for her famous homemade biscuits and her fudge candy.
In addition to her parents, Levi, and Bessie Gatlin Cross, she was preceded in death by a beloved husband, Vance Young; daughter, Brenda Gail Neace; son, David Young and several sisters and brothers.
Left to cherish the many memories include her loving children, Esteline (Floyd) Blackwell, Vance (Linda) Young, and Randy Young (Donna Wilson); grandchildren, Timothy (Heather) Lay, Tina (Daniel) Davenport, Nathan (Heather) Blackwell, Shannon (Billy) Davis, John Wayne Neace, and Joey (Patty) Davis; great grandchildren, Jayda (Joshua “Isaac”) Farris, Leelyn Blackwell, Dakota Hatfield, Jazzlyn Griffith, Gaven Davis, Jacolby Lay, Trevor Lay and Shyann (Matthew) Lowder. A host of family and friends also survive.
A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at Mercy Tabernacle, with Pastor, Sister Edith Blair, and Pastor John Stinnett officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery, with Timothy Lay, Nathan Blackwell, Joshua Farris, Joey Davis, Jacolby Lay, Mike Hays, and Dakota Hatfield serving as pallbearers.
Family and friends will gather from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, prior to the service at the church.
