Thurman Lyle Akins, 88, passed away Saturday, August 17, 2024, at his home in Linsdale.
He was born June 23, 1936, to the late Bruner and Nola Akins.
Thurman enjoyed his retired years working the concession stand at Polk County High School. He also held elections for many years and loved being on his John Deere tractors.
In addition to his parents, Bruner and Nola Akins, he is preceded by his twin sister, Thelma Akins; sister, Genevieve Clabo; brothers; Mason (Mutt) Akins, Edward Akins, Kenneth Akins, and Charlie Akins.
Left to cherish the many memories include his loving wife of 67 years, Margie Akins; daughter, Nancy (Rick) Bishop; grandson, Jason Bishop; brother, Gary Akins and sister, Maggie Crabtree. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A Celebration of Life graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at Green Hill Cemetery, with Matthew Allen, Jared Allen, Jeff Lanning, Tyler Adams, Tanner Cook, and Jason Bishop serving as pallbearers.
The family would like to thank Hearth Hospice for their excellent care and Bob Cook for his care shown to Thurman.
