William H. Davis, 76 of Linsdale, Tennessee went to be with the Lord on March 5, 2023, surrounded by his beloved family. William, fondly known as Bill, was born to the late Hershel and Oma Davis on August 24, 1946. He spent many years working on a farm before being drafted to the U.S. Army in 1966. After completing basic training, he was sent to the Vietnam War where he stayed for 1 year. Prior to going to Vietnam, he met the love of his life Wanda Sue “Nancy” Coleman. They were married on September 19, 1968, after Bill returned from Vietnam.
Bill retired from J.M. Huber Cooperation in 1998 and was very active in his community. He was one of the founding members of Linsdale Community Support Group, an active member of West Polk Fire & Rescue, and served his Lord as a very active and dedicated member at Friendship Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon for many years. He also had many hobbies including camping and hanging out with the Mennonite Community.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded by his brothers, Cecil Davis, Lance Davis, and Dewey Davis.
Left to cherish the many memories include his loving and devoted wife of 55 years, Wanda Sue “Nancy” Coleman Davis; 3 beloved children, Susan (Darrell) Williams of Old Fort, Will (Michelle) Davis of Etowah, and Wes (Malissa) Davis of Delano; cherished grandchildren who he adore, Anna Davis (Malachi Allman) of Athens, Sara Davis of Etowah, and Huck Davis of Linsdale; great-grandchild, Atlas Myles Allman; sisters Wanda Tallent of Linsdale, and Samantha Davis of Etowah; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law Kevin and Glenna Hearn, Faye Davis, Pam Davis, and Jenny Davis. Many nieces, nephews, cousins, and large groups of friends also survive.
A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 9, 2023, at Friendship Baptist Church, with Pastor Steve Beavers and Rev. Steve Ross officiating. A graveside committal service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 10, 2023, at Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery with Tim Walker, Billy Durgin, Lynn Gay, Chris Jones, Matt Sloan, Tim Morris, Malachi Allman, Dale Hall, and Jamie Lewis serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be West Polk Fire & Rescue.
Family and friends will gather from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, prior to the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery Fund in care of Jordan Prock and Randall Bear.
