Yvonne D. Hancock, 69, of Benton, had unshakeable faith and unwavering courage in her illness and passed peacefully on September 29, 2023, while her loving son, Christian Hunter, held her hand.
She was born on February 8, 1954, in West Virginia, to the late Aussie and Betty Tams Butcher.
Yvonne had a deep love for her Savior, Jesus Christ, every member of her family, and all of God’s creatures. She had an immediate and uncanny connection to every animal she encountered and enjoyed a wide variety of pets. She especially loved to spend time with her dogs and horses.
Yvonne enjoyed music, artistry, nature, and spending time with her family. She had an unstoppable charm, an infectious and generous smile, and a playful sense of humor.
In addition to her parents, Aussie, and Betty Tams Butcher, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert “Wade” Hancock, who passed away on March 17, 2023.
Left to cherish the many memories include her loving sons, Christian (Sarah) Hunter, and Jeffrey Hunter; brother, Allen Butcher; brother-in-law, Dale (Terry) Hancock and children; niece, Elaine (Brad) Jaeger; grandniece, Sienna Jaeger; cousins, Janice Newlun, Katherine Bryan, Teresa Shultz, Cindy Warren, and Debbie Zion; a multitude of friends from all over the country, including her ex-husband, David (Idalia) Hunter, Diane (Mike) Hirst and family, Melissa Shirk, Steve (Kay) Purvis, Jim (Diana) Brown, and Cindy Rolland. A host of family and friends also survive.
Family and friends will gather at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 8, 2023, in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home in Benton, Tennessee.
