David Dewayne Couch, 31, of Cleveland, departed this life unexpectedly on December 16, 2021, at his home.
He was born on December 21, 1989, and quickly developed a love for life. He was a smart young man who learned of the joy the outdoors brought. David was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved spending the evenings by a campfire. Eventually, David met the love of his life, Whitney McKenzie, who together have three beautiful children and one unborn child on the way. The love he had for her was unmatched, even after being threatened for having so many white socks (David wore three pair of socks daily when wearing his boots). David had many friends from different circles of life including the many motorcycle and four-wheeler buddies while also never meeting a stranger. If you saw David, you would always notice his attire of choice, including camo, Carhartt, and a flannel, accompanied by a can of Copenhagen and a Red Bull. His greatest love was without a doubt, his children. Always being present and being a hands-on father, David was the best dad to each of his babies. He was deeply loved by all who knew him and will be dearly missed every single day.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Clifton and Nancy Bennett; Diane Ivey, Vera Carver, and Melinda Carver; one aunt, Tammy Couch; one cousin, Christopher Bennett.
Left to cherish the many memories include the love of his life and mother to his children, Whitney McKenzie; loving parents, Bridgette and Tim “Smitty” Smith; father, Dewayne Couch; beloved children, Lakelynn Couch, Barrett Couch, Salem Couch, and unborn child Canyon; siblings, Brennan (Misty Jackson) Huffaker, Ashton Huffaker, and Morgan (Justin) Brown; grandparents, Billy (Joyce) Couch, adored nieces and nephews, Ayden, Daygen, and Izzy Brown; Titus and Halan Huffaker; special aunts, Kim Carver and Kim Bennett; uncle, Trey Bennett. Many aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends also survive.
A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 23, 2021, in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home, with Pastor John Bivens officiating. Interment will follow at Benton Memorial Gardens with his family and friends serving as pallbearers.
